United Philippine Lines, Inc. (UPL) was established in 1960. Initially, we operated a liner service of seven (7) cargo liners serving a trade route between the Philippines and the United States via Hong Kong and Japan. Since then, we expanded our operations and expertise to ship management, general agency, husbanding agency and chartering. With our international partners, we were able to manage various vessels such as oil tankers, LPG carriers, car carriers, product carriers, supply vessels, ocean tugs, and bulk carriers. We later went on to other major industries such as deep-sea fishing.

UPL’s 50-year experience in recruitment is at the foundation of its present day operations which involve training and deployment of highly-skilled technical workers, food and beverage kitchen and service personnel, engineers, physicians, front office staff, and security officers to luxury lines, cruise yachts, product tankers, VLCC/crude oil carriers, LPG carriers and LNG carriers.

In 1976, Holland America begins recruiting skilled personnel from the Philippines. United Philippine Lines, the chosen agent of Holland America Line, was the pioneer in the manning industry and one of the very first to hire Filipino seafarers. First to work in the deck and engine department, then in the kitchen and bars/lounges. Filipino also staffed the on-board maintenance shops (tailors, upholstery, carpenters).

Today, Holland America offers 180 positions for Filipinos on each vessel, including Hotel ,Deck , Engine and Medical Departments totaling to more than 2,500 Filipino crew on all Holland America Line vessels.

Holland America Line, a leading passenger cruise line since 1872 and known for its seagoing heritage around the world, and United Philippine Lines, the pioneer in passenger manning and recipient of numerous awards from the POEA, are looking for the following positions:

1.Job Title: Chef de Partie
For Cruise Ship Holland American Line/UPL
Qualifications:
Male only
Three  years experience in a 5star hotel, cruise ship or high profile restaurant
High school graduate  or culinary degree from accredited culinary schools
Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
Prepare work schedules for his subordinates according to company set guidelines
Used to volume high quality food production
Extensive knowledge to run with confidence and supervise any station in a classical galley operation; leading and managing a station in the kitchen with a multi-national crew/personnel
Possess sufficient and proven knowledge of food product origin, storage and rotation
Proven track record in planning, organizing and developing large show banquets, buffets and events
Advanced knowledge in safety, HACCP, and USPH regulations; able to work with a multi national kitchen team

2.Job Title: Demi Chef de Partie
For Cruise Ship Holland American Line/UPL
Qualifications:
Male only
Two years experience in a 5star hotel, cruise ship or high profile restaurant
High school grad or culinary degree from accredited culinary schools
Used to volume high quality food production
Extensive knowledge to run with confidence and supervise any station in a classical galley operation; leading and managing a station in the kitchen with a multi-national crew/personnel
Possess sufficient and proven knowledge of food product origin, storage and rotation
Proven track record in planning, organizing and developing large show banquets, buffets and events
Advanced knowledge in safety, HACCP, and USPH regulations

3.Job Title: Assistant Pastry
For Cruise Ship Holland American Line/UPL
Qualifications:
Male only
High school graduate; at least one year related work experience
Ability to prepare and bake a variety of pastries, rolls and/or other baked goods in a high volume premium quality setting
Knowledge of supplies and equipment used for pastry making
Able to work with a multi national kitchen team
Knowledge in safety, HACCP, and USPH regulations; handles stressful environment

4. Job Title: Wine Attendant
For Cruise Ship Holland American Line/UPL
Qualifications:
Male or female
College level or hotel school preferred
Two years wine service experience in a hotel or resort/cruise line
Outgoing, good appearance, self starter, warm personality, positive nature
Can adopt to change
Able to suggest and sell beverages and wines to guests
Good knowledge of wines, their grapes, vineyards, production of wines from old and new world
Able to conduct wine tasting in public
Knowledgeable of spirits, liquor and cigars
POS knowledge is an advantage

5.Job Title: Bartender
For Cruise Ship Holland American Line/UPL
Qualifications:
Male or female
College level or hotel school preferred
Two years bartendering experience
Knowledge of wines and cigars
Extensive knowledge in brands and quality of liquors and cocktails
Supervisory experience required
Understanding of beers, coffees and other beverages
Knowledge of bar supplies and equipment
Have cost awareness and full understanding of inventories
Able to conduct a spirit tasting and cocktail demonstration in public

6.Job Title: Tailor
For Cruise Ship Holland American Line/UPL
Qualifications:
Male only
High school graduate
One year related work experience
Good English communication skills
Physically fit and able to carry heavy weights
Three years experience in volume production of uniforms
Able to cut and sew suits, blouse, pants and shirts
Able to operate various tailoring equipment
Team player
Able to handle stress in a mature manner

7.Job Title: Stage Crew
For Cruise Ship Holland American Line/UPL
Qualifications:
Male only
College level
With one year related work experience
Served as a running crew for entertainment productions including but not limited to moving scenery, spotlight operation, dressing assistant for the performers
Experienced in set-up and take down of sets, costumes, lighting and properties for entertainment department events

8. Job Title: Fire Safety Attendants
For Cruise Ship Holland American Line/UPL
Qualifications:
Male only
College level
With one year related work experience
Knowledgeable  in maintenance of fire screen doors, watertight doors, splash doors, and fire dampers
Able to do routine maintenance on sprinkler / hi-fog system
Experienced in installing and replacing fire detectors and system
Able to overhaul  and grease fire hoses, nozzles, couplings, spanners, foam equipment, hose stations, fire line valves

9.Job Title: Front Desk Attendant
Qualifications:
Female or Male,
25-35 yrs old
Two years experience in front desk operations of 3-5 star hotel/resorts
Knowledgeable in hotel operating system.
Excellent English written and conversational skills.
Must have a very pleasing personality.
